Bulk heat treatments involve the application of controlled heating and cooling cycles for defined times, at specific temperatures and in controlled atmospheres. These processes modify the internal structure of the material throughout its entire volume, in order to achieve precise mechanical properties aligned with the required service conditions.

These treatments improve the performance of components in operation, increasing mechanical strength, surface hardness and dimensional stability.

Gaser Group carries out bulk heat treatments on a wide variety of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys, including: tool steels, structural steels, stainless steels, special steels, brass, copper, aluminum and cast iron.

Bulk heat treatments are used in a broad range of industries: automotive, general engineering, aerospace, energy, Oil & Gas, hydraulics, pneumatics, plant engineering, food and pharmaceuticals.

Types of bulk heat treatments

Oil Quenching

Oil quenching is a bulk heat treatment on steel with oil quench. Ensures high hardness and toughness.

Vacuum Hardening

Vacuum hardening is a bulk heat treatment on steel with high-pressure nitrogen quench. Provides high hardness and toughness with minimal oxidation.

Solution Heat Treatment

Solution Heat Treatment is a vacuum solution heat treatment on steel. Improves structural homogeneity, stability and long-term performance.

Ageing

Ageing is a bulk heat treatment in a controlled atmosphere. Increases hardness and mechanical strength, improves wear resistance and dimensional stability, reduces ductility.

Stress Relief

Stress relief is a bulk heat treatment in a controlled atmosphere. Removes residual internal stresses generated by machining or forming.

Annealing of Ferrous and Non-Ferrous Alloys

Annealing of ferrous and non-ferrous alloys is a bulk heat treatment in a controlled atmosphere. Restores ductility and improves machinability.

Magnetic Annealing

Magnetic annealing is a bulk heat treatment in a controlled atmosphere. Reduces or eliminates residual magnetism induced during manufacturing processes.

Benefits and advantages of massive heat treatments

Improved mechanical performance

Bulk heat treatments enhance wear and fatigue resistance, increasing the hardness and mechanical strength of components

Long-term dimensional stability

Internal stresses can be reduced, ensuring greater geometric stability, reliability, and efficiency in subsequent machining

Flexibility

We define the most suitable treatment based on the material, geometry and final use of the component, thanks to our consolidated in-house metallurgical expertise

High surface quality

Processes carried out in controlled atmosphere or under vacuum preserve surface integrity and ensure optimal results for any subsequent treatments
