CORROSION RESISTANCE

Hiplate LM 40®, since it is a chemical nickel coating with a high phosphorus content, is highly resistant to all solutions where the pH varies between 3 and 10.5. Resistance to weathering corrosion is high and proportional to the thickness deposited: it decreases only if the coating is hardened.

ABRASION RESISTANCE

The wear resistance of Hiplate LM 40® chemical nickel is closely related to its microhardness and coefficient of friction and is usually measured by taber testing. Hiplate LM 40® has a lower wear resistance than chromium, but is comparable to hard chromium when heat cured at 350-400 °C.

FOOD SUITABILITY

Hiplate LM 40® complies with ASTM B733 and is suitable for direct food contact according to NSF 51.
